Challenges are Us
Kahana Family Dental Center provides many services that other general dentists often refer
to specialists.  For instance, we do nearly all root canals.  Wisdom tooth extractions and
many other oral surgery procedures are routinely done in-house.  Dr. Ciancio has a
background in sedative dentistry dating back to his St. Francis (Honolulu) Dental Internship
in 1970-71.  We take pride in our crown and bridge (functional and cosmetic) procedures.
Call early for a "same day" appointment.  We
will do our best to control your discomfort.

Health and Safety Compliance
Our staff is dedicated to protecting your health and safety.  We meet or exceed all guidelines set by the Center for
Disease Control, OSHA, and the American Dental Association.  The following are some of our protective measures
• Heat sterilizing instruments and hand pieces after every patient.
• Monitoring sterilization techniques to guarantee effectiveness.
• Cleaning and disinfecting the chair, counters and other surface areas after every patient.
• Wearing clinic clothing and protective eye wear (face shields or masks).
• Changing to a new pair of disposable gloves after every patient.
• Using disposable (single use) products.
• Continuing education of our team and modernization of techniques to assure your health and safety.
The Rubber Dam
We use a rubber dam during root canals and some filling procedures adding an extra
measure of safety to you.  Few people think of it in terms of infection control.  Used
properly, the rubber dam effectively isolates your gums and saliva from our gloved hands
and instruments.  It adds another barrier to microorganisms.  The rubber dam also
prevents anything from going down your throat

Yes, we do treat children!  Kid's sense of curiosity and adventure provide enjoyable moments for our office.
Dr. Ciancio's pedodontic training includes working  at
KALIHI-PALAMA HEALTH CENTER.   We have
seem children as young as one year old.  However, we feel that age four is the right time for most children to
start regular dental visits.  They must have the ability to trust and try new things like "laughing gas".
